The celebration of art and area artists will be here before you know it. Luminaria 2012 returns to Hemisfair Park Saturday, March 10th. Visitors will enjoy more than 20 creative exhibits and an array of different artistic disciplines like literary arts, architecture, music, theatre, dance and more. As always, Luminaria is a free public event and runs from 5 p.m. to midnight on the 10th. Those attending will enjoy a night of diverse performances across 9 different stages as well as 3 galleries. Luminaria is no longer accepting submissions for this years event. Learn more at luminariasa.org. Its the year of the dragon. And, the Institute of Texan Cultures is hosting its 25th annual Asian Festival Saturday, January 28th. This event, for every member of the family, will include Asian cuisine, music, and vendors with a wide variety of products. There will be three stages of music as well as several demonstration areas including cooking, crafts and henna painting. Mark your calendars! Siclovia, the bicycle family-friendly fun ride, is back in March. This is the citys second Siclovia event. Just like before, portions of Broadway (from Brackenridge Park to McCullough Avenue) will be blocked off so pedestrians and bike enthusiasts of all ages can walk, run or bike car free. Its goal is to get people moving in a safe environment. Pets are also welcomed! This new Siclovia will have a pre-Fiesta theme. |
