The latest Internet Ramblings on San Antonio

Since its inception back in 1995, San Antonios Basura Bash has helped remove over 380 tons of garbage from San Antonio waterways. 35 tons of junk was removed just last year alone.  This year, the Basura Bash committee is looking for more volunteers to help in the cause.

The 2012 Basura Bash is Saturday, February 25th from 9 a.m to noon.  You can sign up as an individual or as part of a team for this single-day mass cleaning event. A volunteer breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., followed by a lunch from noon to 1 p.m.  Volunteers will be assigned to collect trash from the banks of one of 15 designated waterways in the San Antonio metro area.   See the complete list here.    To learn more, log on to www.basurabash.org.

Its mission is to help raise money and awareness to help San Antonios homeless community get back on their feet. The 3rd annual Toyota Texas Street2Feet 5K is Saturday, February 18th. Registration is still available.

The 5K and Kidz K, which benefits SAMMinistries, will kick off and end at One Haven for Hope Way.  The race course will navigate through downtown San Antonio, passing some local staples like the Alamo and the Majestic Theater.

The celebration of art and area artists will be here before you know it.  Luminaria 2012 returns to Hemisfair Park Saturday, March 10th.
